By virtue of a dominant, 82-51 win over Western Illinois in Carmichael Arena on Friday afternoon, the UNC women's basketball team is moving on in the NCAA Tournament.

Now awaiting North Carolina (27-7, 14-4 ACC) in the Second Round is an old ACC rival: Maryland. The Terrapins (24-8, 11-7 Big 10) also made quick work of their opponent on Friday, smacking Murray State 99-67 in Chapel Hill.

UNC and Maryland will tip off at 12 p.m., playing in front of a national television audience on ESPN. The Tar Heels are favored by 2.5 points as of Saturday morning, but odds don't mean anything come tournament time.

North Carolina is a team defined by its lockdown defense. UNC limited Western Illinois (26-6, 16-4 Ohio Valley Conference) to 30 percent on Friday, including an ice-cold 13 percent from deep. Leathernecks star Mia Nicastro exploded for 21 points and nine rebounds, but no one else scored in double-figures for the visitors.

Nyla Harris leads the Tar Heels with 11.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Lanie Grant (10.8 PPG), Indya Nivar (10.3) and Elina Aarnisalo (10.1) also score in double-figures, while Ciera Toomey (6.3 rebounds per game) and Nivar (5.1) also average over five rebounds per game.

Maryland has a dangerous offensive threat in Oluchi Okananwa (17.7 PPG), while Kaylene Smikle (13.1), Yarden Garzon (12.7) and Addi Mack (10.9) are also dangerous on the score sheet.
