After two periods, it was all Vegas, with Brett Howden scoring two goals. Then, the third period came and Carolina sprung to life. Three different players scored in the span of 5:05 of game clock. Vegas tied it up to force overtime with 1:21 on the clock, but the Hurricanes came through with the win in OT.
Both teams will be headed to Vegas for Game 3. For the Golden Knights, the key once again is to limit the quick-moving offensive pressure of Carolina. Much like a hurricane, Carolina can pour on goals in quick succession, a strategy that it used to burst ahead in the third period of Game 2.
For Carolina, they will need to turn their defensive attention to Brett Howden. In the first two games of the series, the offense that Vegas has produced largely funneled through him, scoring three of his five shots on goal. Carolina has defended well throughout the playoffs and will need to find an answer for Howden to continue that trend against Vegas.
