not gonna lie - i was about mendoza - didn't like ty at all - beck wasn't even really on my radar - allar who?

this is supposed to be a subpar draft class - earmarked as avoid - doza goes to vegas - rams unexpectedly go simpson - we go beck in the 3rd - steelers follow with allar in the 3rd - klubnik to the jets in round 5

here's the thing tho - they all look good lol - i know it's preseason but they're making the throws - not only that but mendoza has been the least impressive for me - dude only made one truly dope throw against us imo

i think beck had the better debut - simpson and allar too - from what i saw they looked better under center

again - it's preseason - and it doesn't even matter if you're good out the gate - can't mistake flash in the pan greatness for the hall of fame - we likely won't know who any of these qbs are going to be until a couple few years from now

mendoza probably is the man but he's got the most to learn (imo) if they want to play him under center - these are just my first impressions

there's a hot topic for rookie qbs every year - height - hand size - school size - etc lol but forget the spin rate - this year seems to be footwork which is essentially play action - bootlegs - squaring up - throwing while off balance

i'm not just saying this as a card fan or as a raider hater but beck looked more comfortable to me - more fluid and seamless with the footwork - and he was hungrier as far as deep shots go

then i watch "every throw by ty simpson" and i'm like got damn - he looks nicer than mendoza too - same goes for the kid in pittsburgh - i checked in on allar and allar wasn't checking down

I legit wanted Allar of all of them and still think he has the highest ceiling. You won't know which one is best until their Sophomore year IMO. It takes time for teams to get tape on all them then the defenses start taking away things and usually force them into the weakest parts of their game, if the have one.

Allar was my guy too. Higher ceiling and everything that was wrong with him were fixable with the right coaching. In his time at PSU, he had the worst HC a QB could have and a QB coach that was a graduate assistant two years prior. In other words he had no QB coach and yet coming out of his Junior year, he was considered a 1st round pick.

I believe Allar will end up being the top QB out of the 2026 draft class.
