Looks like your right. I must have misread it a while ago.

So the question becomes, do we make him inactive to save $312,500 per week? How will that be perceived by the rest of the players? Bradford was voted a captain... even if he didn't play up to the level of one.

If I'm a teammate of Bradford and I watch tape of the game I don't have a problem with him not getting overpaid yet again.

If Rosen plays well and the offense actually scores some points and gets a decent number of first downs etc. then how can anyone be upset that Bradford isn't getting paid.

Rosen might struggle or get hurt, Glennon won't take us anywhere, but don't we KNOW Bradford provides nothing? And we'd save millions by cutting him?

Just get it over with, do Bradford and the roster a favor, move on.

With Josh Rosen now the starter, Cardinals have incentive to deactivate Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford is healthy after three games. But he’s no longer the starter after three games. And if Josh Rosen manages to hold the job for the next 13 games, the Cardinals could end up saving a nice little chunk of money.

Bradford’s contract pays him a hard $15 million for 2018, with another $5 million available in per-game roster bonuses. When he signed, most assumed that his primary risk for not earning the money came from injury. But now that he’s not playing, the Cardinals have a clear cash incentive to omit him from the 46-man active roster on game days.

It’s a potential savings of $312,500 per week, which translates to a total of $4.06 million over the balance of the year. Which is nearly $1 million more than Rosen’s $3.199 million cap charge for the full season.

Perhaps that’s why coach Steve Wilks, as of Friday, was not ready to say whether Bradford or Mike Glennon would serve as the understudy to Rosen on Sunday. Via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic, Wilks won’t inform Glennon or Bradford of the decision until Saturday night.

That could explain why Bradford brushed off reporters on Friday when an effort was made to get his thoughts on the benching and the potential evaporation of that $4.06 million.

Not that he’ll miss it. Bradford, the first pick in the 2010 draft, has earned $129 million in his career, despite playing in only 83 games.

I disagree, Bradford has done nothing but suck and we save a bunch of cap space for each game he is inactive.

I would rather have Rosen lean on Bradford for help during the game than Glennon.

Inactive means you don't suit up so you wouldn't be on the sidelines I believe.

I recall injured players on the sidelines during games,in street clothes so obviously inactive.

CB2 going through changes.... again

It’s been quite another story, however, when it comes to naming the team’s starting cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson. Wilks benched Jamar Taylor late in last Sunday’s loss to the Bears, replacing him with Bene’ Benwikere. He said Monday that the two players would battle it out this week to see who starts this Sunday against the Seahawks.

On Friday, he still wasn’t ready to say if it’s going to be Taylor or Benwikere.

“From a standpoint of guys competing, I thought they had a great week,” Wilks said. “I thought Bene’ did some great things. I thought J.T. probably had one of his best practices he had all week. And Bene’ did some good things, so I’m going to sit down and talk to the coaching staff and make that decision

You have to consider the future free agent picture. If you make Bradford inactive FAs will be less likely to sign with AZ. They could cut him, but they’d still owe him his full salary. What if Rosen gets hurt? In the NFL he’s become a reasonably priced insurance policy since the only variable is the bonus. The salary is already a loss. When they signed him they thought they could contend; self-delusion. This board analyzed the roster better than the Cards’ front office; scary!

Hey, I'll drive the Benwilkere bandwagon. The guy was all over the filed in preseason.

Plus, I have a soft spot in my heart for CBs with good instincts but limited physical talent. I was, and still am, the sole member of the AZ Cardinals' Renaldo Hill fan club.
