Week 1 "shock" predictions

If you had to pick one game to surprise this week who would it be? On a pure W/L basis, not spread.

Chargers over Chiefs is an easy one to pick as I think Chargers will be very good and Chiefs are a worse offense than last year but I'll pick a very long shot,

Giants over Commanders

The Commanders were a big surprise last year as they were pre season favorites to be one of the worst teams in football. That was because their roster wasn't great and they had a rookie QB, and Daniels surprised everyone and carried them. I don't think that happens twice.

Kliff is well known around here for having an unimaginative offense that doesn't change much and isn't hard for teams to figure out.

The Commanders roster would look great in 2020. Zach Ertz, Von Miller, Austin Ekeler, Marshon Lattimore, Eddie Goldman and Deebo are all starters and all shadows of what they were. Their D line and pass rush is bottom 3rd on paper.

Just can't see lightning striking twice and I think the Giants will be a better team than the clown show of the last few years.

How do you think they are worse than the 11-6 team they were last year?

Who's the best guy they lost? Poona Ford or Bosa's warm husk?

After good rookie or 2nd years they have Tuli Tuipulotu, Dalyan Henley, Joe Alt and McConkey ascending. They upgraded at RB by replacing Dobbins with Hampton and Harris. They brought Allen back who is a favorite target of Herbert, added Becton to the interior O line. I really like Jamerre Caldwell who they took in the 3rd round, thing he's going to be very good.

Yeah, Slater is a loss. But they lost him for the year in 2022 and didn't have Alt to slide over. The O line will be fine.

How's this a worse roster than the 11 wins last year?

I'm surprised the Seahawks are underdogs at home against the Niners too.

Niners have 5 wide receivers on the roster. Pearsall is good but after that it's Jauan Jennings, who's holding in for a contract and has been out with a calf injury for weeks. Practiced for first time this week. MVS, who didn't sign long ago and has butter hands, rookie 4th rounder Jordan Watkins and mega bust Skyy Moore.

Their starting DT's are whoever Jordan Elliott and Kalia Davis are and their starting DB's are unrecognisable.

I'd feel happier putting money on the Niners getting spanked than winning on the road.

Thats a good call. Very easy game for the iggles to overlook since they are so familiar with dallas and Parsons is no longer on the squad.
Division games can go either way even at the best of times.
Add in the dreaded super bowl hangover and the game is well primed for an upset

Keep in mind, that Philadelphia has a great runner, but with Clark, Dallas' rush defense should be much improved.

He is not with the Eagles’ OL anymore. He doesn’t have Stoutland nor is he beside Lane Johnson. Remains to be seen if he reverts back to how he was with the Jets. Their interior OLine is still a mess.

Slater is a loss. But they lost him for the year in 2022 and didn't have Alt to slide over. The O line will be fine.

Incredible logic. Instead of having two franchise tackles this season, they will have one. That definitely means the OLine will be fine & not a massive downgrade.


The non-KC AFC West team you really should be praising is the Broncos. Significantly better roster outside of Bo Nix vs Herbert.

The loss of Slater is tough. They have become more unproven at WR. TE is still meh. Keenan is limited. The defense is unproven.

It's kinda like the Cardinals in that with so many young players on the roster, it is tough to project them to all get better or be good. 11 wins with so much uncertainty is a tough benchmark.

The Vegas total is 9.5 for a reason.
