SHARON – A familiar name once again reigns atop the District 10 high school boys' high school wrestling world.
Reynolds, after a one-year break, reclaimed D-10 wrestling gold in Class 2A. The top-seeded Raiders beat No. 2 General McLane, 47-20, in the Jan. 31 team final at Sharon High School.
Four pins helped Reynolds run away from McLane in a dual which started at 215 pounds. Rocky Floch (285), Parker Grosse (114), Logan Stewart (127) and Chris Elliott (160) each won by fall while Colton Tupper (215), Waylon Waite (121) and Greyden Gustas (145) each recorded a technical fall.
Major decisions from Tino Sciullo (133) and Emery Johnson (189) ensured that all nine of Reynolds’ victories included bonus points.
McLane’s 32-31, semifinal victory over No. 3 Cathedral Prep ensured that, like Reynolds, the Lancers qualified for the PIAA team tournament. Peter Sadchikov sealed that dual with a 6-3 victory by decision at 160 pounds with one match remaining.
In Class 3A, DuBois defeated Harbor Creek, 33-28, in the championship match of a District 9/10 sub-regional tournament. DuBois previously defeated Warren in the lone semifinal.
PIAA tournament action starts Feb. 2. Reynolds and McLane will both open on the road.
