As the Washington Huskies have already made some end roads at California powerhouse St. John Bosco in the 2027 class, with commitments from three-star linebackers Ethan and Justin Coach, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff is already looking to add to that in 2028.
With spring practice underway, the Huskies are preparing to host several recruits for unofficial visits to give them a taste of what life looks like on Montlake, and among the prospects set to make an appearance is four-star 2028 safety Brandon Nash Jr., who at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, is already turning into one of the most coveted players at his position in the class.
Ranked as the nation's No. 125 overall prospect and No. 8 safety by the 247Sports Composite, Nash already holds 12 offers, as the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, California, Ohio State, and UCLA are all among the programs that are competing for his services. But after offering Nash in early February 2025, safeties coach Taylor Mays has been able to build a strong relationship with the talented prospect.
"Coach Mays is the one recruiting me for Washington," Nash told Dawgman.com's Scott Eklund. "He's awesome, from being down here in LA, he's a legend pretty much. Washington is known for having elite DBs. Using his great experience, he's confident and quiet, and he's a great coach."
On film, Nash displays all the traits that Mays is looking for when on the recruiting trail. He's a hard-hitting, but sure tackler who plays with great instincts and displays tremendous range, which often leads to him getting his hand on the ball no matter where he's lined up along the back end of the defense. However, it's not going to be easy to reel in his commitment.
The Buckeyes have made a strong surge in the race for his services, and coach Ryan Day's team holds a crystal ball from 247Sports' Blair Angulo to land his pledge. Fisch, Mays, and the UW coaching staff are hoping that a trip to Seattle could help them make up some ground in the race.
