The Washington Huskies were an early entrant in the race for coveted 2028 safety Jalen Flowers.
Just over a year after the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Palos Verdes (Calif.) defensive back added his 12th scholarship from safeties coach Taylor Mays and secondary coach John Richardson, Flowers was in town on Monday for an unofficial visit.
The No. 82 overall prospect in the 2028 class, per 247Sports' Composite rankings, has continued to stack offers since the calendar turned to 2026, with Georgia, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas among many others joining the race for his services.
Both of his offers from the Bulldogs and Longhorns came during unofficial visits in March and April, which makes his latest trip to the Pacific Northwest even more significant, given the Huskies have already established a strong bond with Flowers and now have the chance to further their standing in his overall recruitment.
As a sophomore last fall for Palos Verdes, Flowers recorded 51 tackles, 6 pass breakups, 5 interceptions, and 4 tackles for loss over 14 games, proving to be a consistent and dominant force in the secondary as a defender.
Although it's expected he'll be featured on defense at the next level, Flowers also proved capable on offense with 11 total touchdowns combined as a wide receiver and running back for the Southern California high school. The combination of the two is evident when watching film of the four-star safety.
Flowers possesses high football IQ with strong hips and instincts to play down in the box and as a deep safety, a mix that has tantalized 36 schools to offer the Golden State product even before his junior year of high school.
If the Huskies can secure a second unofficial visit this fall for a camp-day visit from Flowers, UW should be well-positioned to remain involved in his recruitment for the foreseeable future and when he starts scheduling official visits.
