Building an offensive line is all about chemistry, and that's exactly what position coach Michael Switzer and the Washington Huskies are looking to do over the June 19 weekend of official visits.
Five of the six offensive linemen who locked in trips to Montlake are expected to arrive on that Friday, with four-star in-state tackle Rashaun Lavata'i being the lone exception after scheduling a trip to Oregon State for that weekend, taking his visit to Washington on Monday, June 15, instead.
With four-star interior prospects Gecova Doyal, Lincoln Mageo, and DaJohn Yarborough, along with three-star tackle Tye Kennedy, flanking UW's lone commit along the offensive front, four-star center Reis Russell, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff has a golden opportunity on its hands. Not only does having all of Switzer's top targets, along with a peer recruiter in Russell, help make an impact on all of the prospects, but getting the final chance to make an impression on several of them before their commitments may play to Washington's favor.
Yarborough is set to choose between California, Florida State, Mississippi State, and UW on June 27, while Kennedy is also considering Arizona State, Cal, Michigan, Minnesota, and Utah for his pledge, which will be announced on July 1.
Unlike previous years, where the Huskies had been looking for instant impact pieces to come in and contribute right away, like John Mills and Champ Taulealea in the 2025 class, and Kodi Greene in 2026, Fisch's coaching staff seems much more comfortable letting the development process play out with some of its top targets. For example, even though Yarborough is listed at 340 pounds and boasts Big Ten-ready size, coming off a fractured ankle that ended his junior season, he might need some time to get comfortable as he prepares for the next level.
As for most of UW's other targets, with Lavata'i and Kennedy being the most notable at tackle, they have plenty of room to continue adding weight to their frames before they'll be ready to push for regular spots in the rotation up front.
However, with the aforementioned Greene, Mills, and Taulealea expected to lead the way for years to come, the 2027 class is the ideal time for Switzer to add high-ceiling depth to his unit, and he's put the Huskies in a great spot to potentially earn commitments from several of his top targets in the coming weeks.
