Warner has essentially played 11 games this year. He missed two completely, only threw 2 passes against carolina and only played about 1/2 the snaps in two other games in relief of Matt. That effectively equals 11 full games thus far. His stats are as follows...

259/413 63% 3,109yds 24td's 15 int's qb rating 90.2

If you average that out over a 16 games season he would be...

63% 4,522yds 35td's 22int's qb rating 90.2
Like it or not numbers don't lie and those numbers are not far from pro bowl caliber

Numbers do sometimes lie because this doesn't factor in his fumbling problems. He's one of the best backups in the league but he is still a backup

How many games does a guy have to start before earning "starter" status? While I agree with certain(established) players not losing their job due to injury, other than youth and his contract, has Leinart really performed to the level of being the "obvious" starter?

Warner's age is an obvious reason not to just hand him the keys but his performance, leadership and grit have earned him a chance to compete I think.

News flash: The defense is an even bigger concern for you than whether a 36 year old QB is good, average, or awful.

If Leinart wouldn't have gotten hurt i think the offense would have been that much better with Warner coming in and running the no-huddle a few times a game. I, for one, really liked the changing of QB's to let each play to their strengths. I think that would've driven defenses nuts all year. I think we'll see it next year as well.

Totally. They don't look like the same unit that started the year.

is it? Hey, it's not like I don't have criticisms of other areas of the team. The defense has been horrific most of the year. You just don't see people constantly defending them ad naseum. As far as those "projections", it left out fumbles lost, which would be around 10. I don't know any Pro Bowl QBs who have 32 turnovers, do you?

Kurt did play a great game today. Shocker that we won a game where we didn't turn the ball over, huh? But, yeah, the whole turnover stat is an over rated one in the scheme of winning and not winning ball games, right?

We do not win this game without a hot Warner and a very hot Boldin and Fitz. Whiz wants to run the ball but you cannot run the ball with only one running back. James is going to die from exhaustion. He gives it is all but it is a must to add a RB in the draft. I sort of agree with the announcers we need to add a DE, RB, and a DB. Rolle looked sorry again. He simply cannot play man on man as he is to slow. Like it or not we are a 99% passing team. That is our strength with Warner and our receivers. With only James we are not nor will we ever be a team who can run 50% and pass%. No knock on James. Our DB's gave up over 300 yds of offense and we had no pressure on the QB in the second half.

Sort of unnoticed but on our first drive of the game Warner throws a ball to Shipp in his bread basket on a 3rd down with blockers in front of him. He drops it. Shipp has all but disappeared. This should be his last year unless he has some sort of big contract. Get a RB to go with James. A big one. This April!!!!!! Otherwise James will be dead soon.

1 TO every 21.3 touches(pass attemps/sacks/rushes)=30 TO's over 16 games(averaging 40.6 touches/game).
1 TD every 17.88 touches=36+ TD's in 16 games.

2001 Warner had 36TD and 26 TO's and won an MVP.

Im not sure I ever saw anyone as wrong on more things than you are with this current team. If you think we show promise and the defense is horrendous than by default you must think the offense is better. That is just plain nuts. The few wins we have, most of them, came on the backs of unbelievable and record breaking defensive play. -18 rush yards in a game for christs sake.

I cant believe how far off the radar you are.

that's really not saying much considering how bad QB play is overall in the league.
Yes, due to some unconventionally high QB injuries, several 2nd and 3rd stringers have been playing across the league... so saying he is better than half the QB's starters in the league is not far fetched.

Also, some of Warner's turnovers have come at the worst possible times impacting game outcomes. Above numbers don't reflect that aspect.

However, I think Warner has still done a good job despite tearing ligaments in his elbow.

I don't know that I'd agree with it being a down year overall for QB's. I didn't look at all of the lower rated guys but there will likely be 6 QB's this year to have 30+ TD passes.
2006-1

2004-4
2003-1
2002-0

The timing of some of the turnovers is more of an issue than the actual number in my opinion.

Your bashing me that I think warner is good and how my talent evaluation is 'real good'. Doesnt seem to me a thing a fan of warners would say eh?

You can't defend your position on Dansby and Hayes so you attack a position that doesn't exist with Warner.

Are you french?

I just read in Urban's blog that Warner is tied for second all-time for TDs in a season in franchise history. The record is 28, held by Lomax and ?Johnson.

Good lord, that's incredible. The Cards have NEVER had a QB throw for 30 TDs in season!!!!!!!

Definitely a good game by Kurt today.

However, the offense collapsed during the first 28 minutes of the 2nd half.

Is that on Whiz/Edge/oline only?

True, but they have a QB who threw for more than 30 TDs in one season.

:p
