The 2026 spring high school sports season is underway throughout Oregon, and local athletes kicked off the year with plenty of stellar performances.
Every week, you get to vote for The Register-Guard's Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Active Chiropractic.
Here are the nominees for this week's girls Athlete of the Week:
Information about each nominee is listed below. Vote for the athlete you think is most deserving at registerguard.com/sports. The poll closes at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Thurston senior Brooklyn Anderson won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.44 seconds March 19 at the Jim Barks Grizzly Bear Open at McMinnville High School.
Anderson's time is the fastest in the state this season by nearly a full second. She also won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 5 1/4 inches — good for second-best in the state this season.
North Eugene sophomore Ella Anderson went 4 for 4 with three RBIs March 22 to help the Highlanders to a 26-0 win over McKay.
South Eugene sophomore RIpley Buckhantz went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and four RBIs March 23 to help the Axe to a 14-8 win over North Salem.
Sheldon senior Presley Debaldo went 5 for 6 with two home runs, a triple and nine RBIs March 21 in a 31-18 win over Thurston.
Springfield junior Sailor Hall won the discus with a throw of 117-11 March 21 at the Harvey Lewellen Throws Invitational at Thurston High School.
Hall's mark is the third-best in the state this season.
Thurston senior Daphnie Heckel went 3 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs March 21 in a 31-18 loss to Sheldon.
South Eugene freshman Eva Johnson Hess won the 1,500 in 4:43.70 March 18 at The Opener at Willamette High School.
Johnson Hess' time is the fastest in the state this season. She also won the 800 in 2:19.51.
Creswell senior Jordyn Lee won the 400 in 58.80 seconds March 18 at The Opener at Willamette High School.
Lee's time is the fastest in the state so far this season.
North Eugene senior Cricket Phipps took second in the 1,500 (4:44.52) and in the 800 (2:19.75) March 18 at The Opener at Willamette High School.
Phipps' 1,500 time is the second-fastest in the state this season.
Pleasant Hill senior Ryan Thomas won the 100 in a personal-best 12.42 seconds March 18 at The Opener at Willamette High School.
Thomas' time is the fifth-fastest in the state this season.
Marist junior Lillian Wobbe threw a complete game and struck out 10 batters March 19 in a 12-4 home win over Henley. At the plate, she went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and five RBIs.
