The polls are open!
It's time to vote for the Halifax Health Volusia-Flagler Boys Athlete of the Week for the week of March 23-28.
Two weeks ago, Father Lopez baseball player Ian Campanella captured the honors, claiming 63% of the votes. The senior threw a complete game in a 2-1 win over Taylor. He didn’t allow an earned run while striking out five Wildcats. Campanella also drove in a run at the plate.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal gathers nominees for upcoming polls from across the area via email at [email protected]. Please send a player's name, school and notable statistics for a given week. Submissions are due no later than 8 a.m. every Monday.
To round out the ballot, our staff also picks athletes from scores and stats posted online or submitted by local coaches. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.
Voting in the online poll below will close at 5 p.m. Sunday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Emailed votes will not count.
Tyler Kniebbe, University: The senior pitched six innings of one-run ball and struck out nine hitters in a 3-2 win over Deltona.

Editor's Note: We reserve the right to disqualify a candidate or declare a "no contest" if tampering such as bots or offering to pay for voting is evident. Please respect the integrity of the vote the way these athletes respect the integrity of the game.
