Vote for Seacoast boys lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year for 2026

Coaches from each Seacoast high school boys lacrosse team were invited to nominate a player for Preseason Player of the Year for the 2026 season, presented by York County Community College as part of the Athletes of the Week program.

Read on to see the nominees and vote for your choice.

Voting can be completed through the ballot below. Voting closes at midnight Thursday, April 9.

How do we learn who wins?​

The winner will be announced in a story published Friday, April 10 at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

Who are the nominees?​

Sam Biddle, Portsmouth High School, junior, midfielder​

Biddle had a stellar sophomore season with the Clippers last season with 16 goals, 14 assists and 112 groundballs. He also won 66% of his face-offs, winning 162 of his 243 attempts.

Hayden Demeroto, Marshwood High School, senior, attack​

Demeroto is back for one final season with the Hawks after putting up 40 goals last season.

Brendan Dowling, York High School, senior, goalie​

Dowling is a returning captain this season for the Wildcats, who advanced to last year's Class B state championship for the second straight season. York head coach Billy McNamara calls Dowling one of the best goalies in the state of Maine.

Sam Gibney, Exeter High School, sophomore, midfielder​

Gibney burst onto the scene his freshman year earning a starting midfielder position, and being named to the Division I all-state first team.

Cooper Ketcham, Dover High School, senior, midfield​

Ketcham scored a team-best 41 goals, was second in assists with 48 and had a team-high 89 points last season for Dover last season.

Alec Mitchell, Winnacunnet High School, senior, FOGO/attack​

You must be registered for see images attach

Mitchell won 85% of his faceoffs and earned a spot on the Division II all-state first-team. Mitchell had 30 goals and 15 assists last season for the Warriors, who advanced to the Division II semifinals.

Jake More, St. Thomas Aquinas, junior, goalie​

More had a 52% save percentage last season for the Saints, leading his team to the Division III semifinals.

Jackson Shapleigh, Spaulding High School, junior, defense​

You must be registered for see images

Shapleigh is entering his third season on varsity for Spaulding, and head coach Ben Gregoire calls him a "defensive leader."

Terrance Swiger, Traip Academy, senior, midfield/attack​

You must be registered for see images attach

Swiger, a returning captain for the Rangers this season, had 41 goals and 23 assists last year for the Rangers, and was a Class C all-conference first-team selection.

Kavi Weber, Oyster River/Newmarket, senior, defender​

Oyster River/Newmarket first-year head coach Brendan McKenna says Weber is the type of player every coach wants.
