Faye Brunke, Bay Area Ice Bears (Pulaski)

The senior forward had three goals and three assists in a 9-1 win over Fox Cities in a sectional semifinal and had one goal and one assist in a 3-1 win over Lakeshore to send the Ice Bears to the WIAA state tournament.

Brunke has 20 goals and 24 assists this season.

The Ice Bears are hoping to win their second straight state championship and third in the last four seasons.

Cael Leisgang, Seymour wrestling

The senior won the third individual WIAA state wrestling championship in school history and the first since 2012 with a 4-1 win over Stoughton’s Gatlin Empey in the Division 2 heavyweight title match.

Leisgang finished his season 41-0.

Carson Neubert, Luxemburg-Casco wrestling

The junior put the finishing touches on another dominant season, repeating as a state champion with a 3-2 win over Oregon junior Cade Aaberg in the D1 144-pound title match.

Neubert won the 126-pound title last year and will attempt next season to become the seventh grappler in program history to win at least three state championships.

Alois Schlumpf, Bay Port wrestling

With the pressure at its highest and down to his last chance, Schlumpf walked away from the state wrestling tournament as a champion for the first time in his career.

The senior defeated Watertown junior Bryson Busler in a 4-2 decision in the D1 132-pound title match.

Schlumpf became Bay Port’s all-time leader in wins earlier in the tournament and will end his prep career this week after helping lead the Pirates to team state.

Chase Van De Ven, De Pere hockey

Some spell his last name VandEven. Others Van De Ven.

Either way, he’s good.

The sophomore had a big-time week in goal to help the Voyageurs reach the D1 state tournament.

He made 26 saves in a 4-1 win over Bay Area in a sectional semifinal and 32 saves in a 4-2 victory against Neenah co-op in the sectional title game.

Taylor Whiting, Lena wrestling

The senior made state girls wrestling history with a 10-5 win over Manitowoc senior Emjay Neumann in the 114-pound title match.

With the victory, Whiting became the first girl to win four state championships.

Andrew Wiesner, Sevastopol boys basketball

The sophomore had 13 points and 7 rebounds at Peshtigo and led the Pioneers to a 56-55 win at Northeastern Wisconsin Lutheran with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals while shooting 10-for-17 overall and 5-for-8 from 3.

Wiesner is averaging 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds this season.
