The Coloradoan is again proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes in the 2025-26 school year.
There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports.
This is the 34th week of the 2025-26 sports year, as we're down to just a handful of local teams still competing across three remaining sports.
You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on May 21, with the winner announced later that same day.
Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday) and the Coloradoan sports staff will ultimately select the nominees each week.
If you have nominations for a future Athlete of the Week, please send them via email to [email protected] for consideration.

Meet the Blue FCU Girls Athlete of the Week nominees
The following Fort Collins-area girls athletes are nominated for their performances from May 11-16:
- Kaia Bennett, Rocky Mountain track and field: The senior got a sweet and well-earned send-off at state. Bennett won the 5A discus state title by over 2 feet in an emotional championship win and followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 5A shot put by less than 5 inches.
- Kiana Cumings, Windsor track and field: Double dash titles, back-to-back? That's good stuff from the Wizards senior, who also ended her storied career with a 4-for-4 meet. Cumings swept the 4A 200/400 dash titles for a second straight year, ran anchor on two state-title relay squads and helped Windsor finish as 4A runner-up.
- Tatum Gentry, Windsor soccer/track: Speaking of, Gentry also had a big hand in that Windsor 4A runner-up finish, running on the Wizards' 4x100/200 championship relays. Adding to that, the junior also had two goals and an assist, accounting for all three scores in Windsor soccer's 3-0 quarterfinal upset at No. 1 Palmer Ridge.
- Reese Morgan, Fossil Ridge soccer:Talk about a great birthday present. Morgan provided the gift herself, booting the defending-champion SaberCats back into the 5A title game with an incredible 20-yard free-kick game-winner in overtime to beat No. 3 Castle View 2-1 in the semifinals.
- Addyson Smith, Fossil Ridge track and field: Smith is a rare exception to our typical no repeat-winners policy here after taking Athlete of the Week earlier this spring. But the SaberCat senior earned this nomination on the big stage, cathartically sweeping 5A 100- and 200-dash titles as the "Fastest girl in Colorado."
