Vote for Blue FCU's Fort Collins-area Girls Athlete of Week (May 11)

The Coloradoan is again proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes in the 2025-26 school year.

There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports.

This is the 33rd week of the 2025-26 sports year, and we're down to just a handful of sports left in spring championship season.

You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on May 14, with the winner announced later that same day.


Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday) and the Coloradoan sports staff will ultimately select the nominees each week.

Meet the Blue FCU Girls Athlete of the Week nominees​

The following Fort Collins-area girls athletes are nominated for their performances from May 4-9:

• Kiana Cumings, Windsor track and field: The reigning double sprints state champion looks ready to defend her titles. Cumings won the 200-meter dash (with a meet record), the 400 dash and 4x400 relay with the Wizards at the Hoka St. Vrain Invitational, plus a third-place finish in the 100 at Teddy's Last Chance Qualifier.
• Miriam Huffsmith, Liberty Common soccer: It wasn't a playoff win, but the Eagles junior did about all she could with an incredible postseason performance. Huffsmith scored all five Liberty Common goals in a tough 6-5 loss for the No. 22 seed at No. 11 Denver Christian in the Class 2A first round.
• Jordyn Kauffman, Timnath track and field: The Cubs sophomore is also ramping up toward state after her strong freshman finish last season. Kauffman was outstanding at Teddy's Last Chance meet, winning the triple jump by over a foot and taking sixth in the long jump.
• Kennedy Lindsey, Fossil Ridge soccer:It was a snowglobe game to remember, especially for the first-year Fossil player. The SaberCat freshman scored two goals (one in each half) for her first career multi-goal game in high school, helping No. 2 Fossil beat Legend 4-0 in a rare snow game.
• Nevaeh Winfrey, Rocky Mountain track and field: The Lobos junior showed off her versatility at Teddy's Last Chance Qualifier. Winfrey took first in the 200-meter dash and the high jump, while also taking eighth in the 100 dash for a great pre-state finale.
