BEAR CREEK – Second-seeded Bishop McGuinness beat third-seeded Winston-Salem Prep 70-41 in the semifinals of the Greater Triad 1A/2A Conference boys' basketball tournament Thursday at Chatham Central.

Arop Chom scored 16 points to lead the Villains (19-5), who advanced to face top-seeded South Stokes in Friday's championship. Bryce Chapman added 15 points, while JJ Short had 13 points and Jones Chavis had eight points.

Meanwhile, the Bishop McGuinness girls' team rolled past South Stokes 52-11 in the semifinals of the Greater Triad 1A/2A Conference girls' basketball tournament.

Jenna Moore scored 21 points for the Villains (20-3), who advanced to take on second-seeded North Stokes in Friday's championship. Claire Sullivan added 14 points, while Jaina Turner had five points.
