Vanderbilt (16-12, 4-4 SEC) defeated No. 21 Tennessee (18-9, 3-5 SEC), 6-5, Saturday in 16 innings at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tennessee.

With the victory, Vanderbilt clinches the SEC series between the two in-state rivals as the Commodores have won the first two games of the three-game set in extra innings.

Vanderbilt earned the victory when Mack Whitcomb had a RBI single with one out in the 16th inning.

The Commodores led, 5-0, after scoring five runs in the fourth inning.

The Vols scored five runs in the sixth inning after Blake Grimmer had a two-run single and Henry Ford hit a three-run home run.

Garrett Wright went 3-for-6 and scored one run, while Ford went 3-for-4. He hit a three run home run, recorded three RBIs and scored one run. Grimmer went 2-for-7. He recorded two RBIs and scored one run.

Brady Frederick (4-1) recorded a loss for Tennessee. He pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one run, one hit and one walk. He totaled 24 pitches, including 16 strikes.

Logan Mack started for Tennessee. He allowed five runs (four earned) and eight hits. He recorded nine strikeouts, while totaling 96 pitches, including 65 strikes.

Cam Appenzeller pitched six innings of scoreless relief for the Vols. He allowed four hits and recorded four strikeouts. Appenzeller totaled 68 pitches, including 53 strikes, while Bo Rhudy pitched three innings. He recorded two strikeouts. Rhudy totaled 42 pitches, including 30 strikes.

Brayden Krenzel also appeared in relief for the Vols.
