Is it usually released when someone admits causing their own accident? So why wouldn't they release the 911 call or the body cam footage.

It's usually released out of pure transparency. You know - a police department reassuring the public that all things happened just as they said and everything was handled properly. Is it usually released when someone admits causing their own accident?
So no. It’s not required or expected if someone admits to causing their own accident. It's usually released out of pure transparency. You know - a police department reassuring the public that all things happened just as they said and everything was handled properly.

He was not found at fault regardless of his verbal timeline of how the accident allegedly happened. Additional details might come to light if the 911 call or the bodycam footage were to be released. They usually are released in high profile accidents/crashes like this.So no. It’s not required or expected if someone admits to causing their own accident.
Kyle Shanahan can afford whatever financial cost he'd be liable for, so why the need to sweep the truth under a rug?The media asked for it and the police refused.
My guess is he wasn't driving, it was in FSD, and he's concerned because under California law that makes him completely liable. The girl in the other car was injured too, so he doesn't want to be personally liable if she were to sue since his insuarance would not cover it.
Or same situation and a certain car company doesn't want it known that their self driving car caused an accident.
The someone else was in the car seems unlikely because there were witnesses we'd know by now there was another person in his car IMO
Video evidence is irrelevant. It’s a misdemeanor not committed in your presence. The law doesn’t allow you to cite them. At least in the state of NV. Pretty sure Cali is the same.Same police department refused to cite Elon Musk years ago for filming himself with his cell phone while his Tesla was self-driving through their area - because no police officer witnessed him filming himself while driving, despite the video evidence he posted online of himself doing just that.
@Russ Smith not really sure what you’re implying here reference witnesses in saying the vehicle was automated driving. How would a witness know that? How do you tell a car was driving in automated mode as opposed to being under control of the human occupant?? I see Teslas on the road all the time I can’t tell if they’re being self driven or automated… what’s the cue that allows an ordinary citizen to be able to tell?

Kyle Shanahan’s car accident has transformed into the NFL’s biggest mystery
A routine traffic accident has become something entirely surreal.sports.yahoo.com
Just one story explaining why people think this is weird. this doesn't go into the Tesla angle jsut the idea people may be covering for Shanahan.
If you look at like 49er webzone there's a huge Shanahan thread and the last several pages are all about this. Lots of them are real clear they don't believe the official story, nobody who lives there does the question is who are they protecting?
This story says the other person wasn't injured, there's multiple articles that say she was, minor but she was has been reported.
Wait. Random people on the internet speculating about a conspiracy theory??? Say it ain't so!
I mean, the accident wasn't even made public for 11 days. That's easily enough time to contact everyone involved to get stories straight and make bank deposits. The original reports said bystanders said the car was self driving, he says it wasn't. So yeah either he's telling the truth and then the coverup makes no sense, or someone else was driving or in the car but that would have come out by now there were witnesses to the accident.
So again my guess is he was not driving the car and doesn't want to admit that.
Some animals are more equal than others.Tony Romo is innocent until proven guilty in his DUI/OWI arrest.
That police department already released bodycam footage of that stop.
Kyle Shanahan was not cited in the accident he claims to have caused.
That police department is refusing to release the 911 call and the bodycam footage.
pretty sure there are some fairly strict laws in place at the moment in regards to allowing your car to drive on its own.The original reports said bystanders said the car was self driving, he says it wasn't. So yeah either he's telling the truth and then the coverup makes no sense, or someone else was driving or in the car but that would have come out by now there were witnesses to the accident.

They wrote in an official police document that it was the other drivers fault.Especially after they blamed the wrong person initially
Grade A ********.It's because as the story said it makes no sense it took them 11 days to even mention he'd been in an accident. In the story Tim Kawakami, a longtime bay area sports reporter, admits he knew before it came out but he said he didn't have enough info to report it. It's just unusual in a day and age when we know minutes later on everything, that they waited 11 days to release this and then the release was wrong, they blamed the victim not Shanahan.
Plenty of time to reach a settlement with strict NDAsI mean, the accident wasn't even made public for 11 days. That's easily enough time to contact everyone involved to get stories straight and make bank deposits.
