Is there one breakout candidate on the New England Patriots that is in line to have a stellar season in 2026?

According to CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan, Kyle Williams is the Patriots’ under-the-radar breakout candidate to take serious for next season.

“While Brown and Doubs will garner most of the attention, don't sleep on Kyle Williams,” Sullivan said. “The 2025 third-round pick had a relatively quiet rookie season, catching just 10 balls for 209 yards and three touchdowns. He was largely used as a deep threat, but there's certainly more for him to grow, even with the additions New England has made.”

Williams’ speed, footwork, and sound ability to execute his routes were on full display last season and enabled him to make the most of the 21 targets that he received on the year.

The Patriots have a much more crowded receiving corps next season, headlined by wide receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, as well as tight end Hunter Henry. Hollins was New England’s fourth-leading receiver last season with 550 yards, falling just one yard short of Kayshon Boutte, who is also still with the team.

Williams will have his work cut out for him to edge out Hollins for time on the outside next season. However, all throughout the offseason, talks of the work that he’s put in to improve his game make him a player to watch to make a jump in 2026.
