The Kansas City Chiefsrecently traded former third-round draft pick offensive lineman Wanya Morris to the Atlanta Falcons. The deal opens up an opportunity on the depth chart that appears to feature an emerging undrafted free agent.
Kahlil Benson has put his name in consideration for a chance to compete in training camp based on his performances in offseason workouts. He's already gotten on the radar of the coaching staff, including head coach Andy Reid, as he explained during his minicamp press conference.
"Yeah, so (he's) big and strong and looks like he (Kahlil Benson) has some good athletic ability - good feet for a big fella like that. (He has) extremely strong hands. (I) look forward to seeing him in pads," said Reid, "It's hard to evaluate some of these guys if you haven't seen them in pads before. In these types of practices, there's not a whole lot of contact going on there, but he's been able to handle everything, and we'll see where it goes."
Benson was a member of the Indiana Hoosiers' 2025 CFP National Championship roster. He saw action in 49 games in college, splitting stints at Indiana (2022-2023, 2025) and with the Colorado Buffaloes (2024). He was signed to the 90-man roster after an impressive showing at the rookie minicamp.
