The 2026 NFL Draft and brief rookie minicamp are in the rearview for the Kansas City Chiefs as moves continue to be made to adjust the roster.
According to the team’s social media accounts, Free Agents Xavier Loyd, Marlen Sewell, and Kahlil Benson have been signed. Loyd is an undrafted wide receiver from Missouri, Sewell is an undrafted defensive back from Vanderbilt, and Benson is an undrafted offensive lineman from Indiana.
The Chiefs also announced that multiple players were waived, including quarterback Jake Haener, defensive lineman Ethan Hurkett, and defensive lineman Zacch Pickens.
Haener signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs in early February, after three seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Hurkett was an undrafted free agent from Iowa, and Pickens was signed to the practice squad in 2025. He was promoted to the active roster on December 17th, recording five tackles in three games last season.
The waived veterans were made expendable, possibly following key position additions in the 2026 NFL Draft, including defensive lineman Peter Woods and quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.
