UNC will get a stern test in its first matchup in the NCAA College World Series. Ole Miss rolls into this game with an undefeated record in the tournament so far; they took down South Dakota State, 13th seeded Nebraska, and Arizona State to win the Lincoln Regional. In the Supers, Ole Miss knocked out the fourth-seeded Auburn Tigers in two games to punch their ticket to Omaha. All-in-all, it’s been a solid run for a team that finished 9th in the SEC (For more on the Ole Miss baseball team, check out Brandon Griffin’s preview).
If the Heels get past Ole miss, they will meet the winner of the Troy-West Virginia game on Saturday; a loss to Ole Miss will pit UNC against the loser of Trojan/Mountaineers matchup in an elimination game. Overviews of these teams can be found here and here.
