The University of Hawaii Hilo softball team saw its season come to an end Friday with a 10-2 five-inning loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the NCAA Division II Championships West Regional in San Marcos, Calif.
The Vulcans scored first on a Mia Joaquin single for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Toros scored three in the bottom half and six in the second. Joaquin finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Rayna White scored two runs. Dyoni Garcia doubled, homered and drove in four runs for the Toros.
Hilo was sent to the losers’ bracket of the double-elimination tournament after a 9-1 loss to top-seeded Cal State San Marcos on Thursday. The Vulcans finish the season 26-19, 23-11 in the PacWest Conference.
