LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - MARCH 14: (L-R) Bia Mesquita of Brazil secures a rear choke submission against Montse Rendon of Mexico in a bantamweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at Meta APEX on March 14, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLC)
Beatriz “Bia” Mesquita looked unstoppable earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 14, 2026) at UFC Vegas 114 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the women’s bantamweight prospect steamrolled Montserrat Rendon with an impressive first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Mesquita came into this “Prelims” showdown a heavy betting favorite and for good reason. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace made waves in her UFC last October with a dominant submission win over Irina Alekseeva. It was a great introduction to UFC fight fans and an indication of great things to come from the 34-year-old Brazilian. That’s why Mesquita carried a lot of hype heading into her second Octagon appearance.
On Saturday night, Mesquita needed just over two minutes to impose her grappling and find a way to Rendon’s back. Rendon had never been finished in her pro career entering this weekend, but she didn’t stand much of a chance against Mesquita’s BJJ prowess. Mesquita worked for the rear-naked choke and forced a pretty quick tap once it was in. The victory pushes Mesquita’s undefeated record to 7-0 and may land her a chance at the top 15 her next time out.
