Geez. Go back and watch when Taurasi came into the league. She got roughed up a lot. Diana also fought back. The only difference is no one was watching the WNBA back then accept us hard core basketball fans. Clark became a viral phenom in college, so everything that happens to, and around her is magnified. You can't breath on her or fans scream. She's not a glass figurine. Watch every night in the WNBA there are other star players getting hard fouls, etc. It's just over magnified with Clark.

Clark has taken cheap shot after cheap shot. That is not normal for any league. Check.
The WNBA in their infinite wisdom, decided to hitch their marketing wagon to Angel freaking Reese. Check.
That's like the NBA in the 90s using Dennis Rodman as their poster child.

The problem is it's NOT over magnified with Clark. If it was, we'd be seeing suspensions in EVERY SINGLE GAME that she plays in. EVERY ONE.

The league was nothing until Clark got there. Check. That can't be argued.

I guess I just never bought into the hype. I don't even think she's the best player in the league. A'ja Wilson is a much better player in my opinion. She can put teams on her back to win in the playoffs, not just the regular season. She was a one woman wrecking ball against the Mercury in the finals, and we had some tough ladies on the squad who couldn't slow her down. Clark, if she's not hot shooting, she's manageable. I've seen the Mercury beat the Fever when Clark is just normal shooting from the field.

The media and WNBA tried to make that rivalry with Reese so they could have a Magic versus Bird thing to get people interested. Again, hype.

IDK, Chap, I have watched a LOT of WNBA games in my life. Possibly more than anyone on the board. Anything Clark is news and promo for the WNBA. I watch her play. Does she get hard fouls in games? Yes. Do other stars on other teams get that treatment? Yes. Suspensions every single game? OK, let's turn that around. If I came here and said that same thing to you (If it was, we'd be seeing suspensions in EVERY SINGLE GAME that she plays in. EVERY ONE.), you would say, C'mon Yuma, you are way over exaggerating. I have watched the Mercury play against her, and not foul her hard all game. A couple games in fact.

She is a good player. No doubt. Is she the best player now? I don't think so. Is she the best ever? Not yet. She's got miles to go. She has potential to be so. Do I think the WNBA is trying to destroy her? Nope. Why would the WNBA hype her games in advertising? She's the face of the league. I just don't buy this narrative they are out to get her. They wouldn't have suspended Thomas if so.

There's a sensitive fan base when it comes to her. They could be called Clarkies. I just try and watch her like any other player.
