With this market as rich in the Mixed Martial Arts scene, the UFC making an appearance here is long overdue. On December 13, it will happen as the promotion makes it's debut in the city.
So far, two fights have been made official for the event:
Jamie Varner (a Valley native who wrestled at Deer Valley HS and owns his own gym in Scottsdale) vs. Drew Dober
Alistair Overeem vs. Stefan Struve
Also rumors are Cub Swanson vs. Frankie Edgar and Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic will be on the card. Miocic and JDS are two of the top heavyweights in the sport and Swanson-Edgar are two top ranked featherweights.
I'll attempt to post more news about who's fighting here as I get info.
