Tyrese Maxey is coming off the best season of his career for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 25-year-old averaged 28.3 points, 6.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.9 steals on 46.2% shooting and 36.7% shooting from three-point range in 70 games. The stellar campaign earned him a spot in the All-Star Game as well as on All-NBA Third Team.
But is it possible his best basketball is still ahead of him?
Bleacher Report believes so, predicting Maxey will be the No. 9 ranked player in the NBA in 2030. A few notable players slotted behind the 76ers guard on this list are Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Jalen Brunson.
This is not a crazy prediction to make by any means, as the two-time All-Star will be age 29 at that point and likely in the midst of his prime. It's tough to say what Philadelphia's roster will look like at that point, but the hope is undoubtedly Maxey and V.J. Edgecombe will still be around.
Maxey is not the most physically imposing player at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. However, he greatly makes up for that with his speed, athleticism, and shiftiness.
He can get to the basket at will using his agility, stop on a dime in the mid-range, and consistently knock down shots from the arc. There are very few question marks revolving around his offensive skillset. What can determine his ceiling, though, is the number of mouths to feed on the 76ers' roster in the coming years.
As it stands, there are four All-Star-caliber players in the Sixers' rotation, so Maxey won't necessarily be able to stand out as much on the offensive end. It won't change his level of impact, but the box score may look a bit less impressive for him.
Another factor that will determine his ceiling is how reliable he can become on defense. If Maxey continues to up his game on that end of the floor, then having him as a top-10 player four seasons from now is realistic.
