The Philadelphia 76ers made their decision on Tuesday to select Alabama star Labaron Philon with the No. 22 pick in the draft. The Sixers acquired this pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder via the Houston Rockets from the Jared McCain trade at the deadline back in February.
Philon averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 50.1% from the floor and 39.9% from deep in the 2025-26 season. A big thing to point out about Philon is that he raised his 3-point percentage from 31.5% as a freshman in 2024-25 to the 39.9% as a sophomore while raising his volume from 3.4 attempts to 6.2.
Sixers backcourt mates VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey took to Instagram to give their reactions to the Philon pick.
Philon will be a nice backup for the bench unit behind Edgecombe and Maxey and give Philadelphia a high-volume scorer for the second unit. The bench struggled at times in the playoffs and the Alabama star will have the opportunity to be that stabilizer for this group.
