Except K1 was the best QB/player in college football.

Simpson was………..
Kyler was really good in high school also.

Being the best player in college football does not always translate to the pros. That's why only two of the QBs that won Heisman's have also won Lombardi's.

I wouldn’t take victory laps in year two. Daniela was amazing rookie season and Caleb grew leaps and bounds last season. I liked Maye the best too in that draft (I didn’t like Caleb or Daniels), but I was wrong.
Maye will never see another Super Bowl and might not even get to an AFC championship again.

Stars perfectly lined up for him.

Gabriel is also managed by CAA.
Shocker!

I agree he's probably wrong on Simpson but the 2nd take was exactly right. They started Flacco because it was obvious in camp if they started Gabriel or Sanders right away, they would get fired. At a certain point they went to Gabriel, who wasn't very good, so they went to Sanders who also wasn't very good, and they got fired.

Simpson is risky.
one of several reasons i wanted Monti gone was that the team needs a GM who is free to think beyond next season.

Monti is thinking year to year

-- and aligning his entire scouting department to call Simpson worth #3 is in his interests -- especially if they tell Mike that Simpson will need a year to sit and learn (like Mahommes!).

This buys Monti two years

This is my concern as well. That's why I doubt Monti will acquire 2027 draft picks. He’s on the last year of his contract and Mikey expects a quick turnaround. Just like the Pats and bears.

Hopefully the team President is ready to support Monti's quick turnaround to the fullest, arming him with ample cash to sign impact players.

“My eyes tell me Ty Simpson’s every bit as good as—in some ways better and more NFL-ready than—[Fernando] Mendoza."

@McShay13
talks about whether there’s a big gap between Ty Simpson and Fernando Mendoza.

Weird how all these takes are coming out now. It's almost as if they are coordinated...

McShay's own top 100 has Simpson ranked 24.
i think the vid sums up this POV well -- which is that he is conflicted

tape is really good (early)

but

historic comps say he wont make it
