TOPEKA (KSNT) – Jacob Hanna and Andrew Orr were back in Lee Arena like they never left.

Former Washburn men’s basketball players Hanna and Orr are playing for JHX Hoops this summer in TBT.

On Wednesday, July 22, Lee Arena was considered the home court for Kansas’s alumni team in their Game 2 matchup against K-State’s Purple Reign.

“I’m more excited to see the people here, rather than the place, just because I feel like that is what it’s all about: the relationships you have,” Orr told 27 Sports. “It was so cool to come back and see all the people I haven’t seen in a year or two.”

JHX Hoops grabbed the win in Game 2, 84-80.

Hanna started for the Jayhawks and put up 12 points with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Orr saw 18 minutes of action, went 2-3 from the field, and grabbed two rebounds.

“He (Hanna) was everything for us,” JHX Hoops head coach Sherron Collins said. “He makes winning plays. It’s not always going to show up right here (stats); he’s going to go get rebounds, he’s going to get his hands on balls, he’s going to get the flexes, he’s going to get up and guard. I love him.”

Jacob Hanna remains undefeated in Lee Arena.

Opportunities to play in your old arena don’t come around often. For Washburn men’s basketball head coach Brett Ballard, he got a chance to watch a game in Lee Arena from the stands, a spot he’s hardly ever in, and see two former players back home.

“I’ve never watched a game in here where I wasn’t coaching, so it’s kind of unique,” Ballard told 27 Sports. “It’s great seeing those guys; they are both playing well, especially Jacob. Those guys are big for our program, so it’s a lot of fun to see them out here.”

In Hanna’s lone season with the Ichabods, he averaged 15.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while adding 120 assists, 37 steals and 13 blocks.

Orr played all four seasons at Washburn. The forward averaged 14 points a night, 4.1 rebounds, and totaled 32 steals and 18 blocks in his senior season.

“I think it’s just a good opportunity for them to kind of showcase the players they are and to be around those guys,” Ballard told 27 Sports. “Really happy for them to get this opportunity…both those guys are great kids and represented our program really well.”
