The Denver Broncos agreed to sign former Cincinnati Bengals safety and special teams ace Tycen Anderson to a one-year deal on Thursday.

Anderson played in every game for the Bengals in 2025 and represents the first outside signing of a free agent this cycle for the Broncos. Anderson was a heavy contributor on special teams and a rotational safety for Cincinnati.

Anderson represents a potential replacement for former Denver safety P.J. Locke, who left to join the Dallas Cowboys, adding more depth to the secondary ahead of the NFL draft.

Here is a sampling of how Broncos Country (and Bengals pundits) reacted to the deal on Twitter/X.

#Broncos are *now* signing safety/special-teamer Tycen Anderson to a one-year deal, source confirms. Wasn’t done last night, now it is.

Andersons been a key ST guy for two years in Cincy. Played all 17 games in ‘24, ‘25. Gives Denver safety depth and a potential glue ST guy

As @JamesRapien had reported yesterday. #Bengals have another hole to fill. https://t.co/OHZ1Fqfk8U

Losing Tycen Anderson is very frustrating and hard to understand.

The Bengals special teams had morphed into a strength with Anderson as their on-field leader.

This leaves another talent and leadership void that the Bengals will hope & wish to fill instead of actually filling. https://t.co/yvWcGrFs3u

Asked STC Darrin Simmons at the Scouting Combine what Tycen Anderson brings and he started with: "Versatility."

He went far beyond that, praising what Anderson provided his group.

Pointed out Anderson started training early in his career with the responsibility of a personal…

The Broncos needed a veteran safety after losing P.J. Locke in free agency.

Tycen Anderson has upside at the position after seeing the field defensively for the first time in 2025.

Locke was a positive force in Denver’s locker room. Anderson is similar presence, by all accounts

Anderson will surely bring a veteran presence and, by all accounts, a leader to the Broncos' locker room.
