Tune was sacrificed this week against a superior defense. It was all to protect Murray from having to play his first game against an elite defense with no threat of the running game on the road.

It was the correct choice as the Cardinals need Murray to succeed. Sucks for Tune though.

Yeah, Tune didn't have a shot at real success, but there were a few times he had open receivers and ok protection and he failed miserably. Guy's not an NFL player.

Yeah Lou if we're being fair Tune had zero chance to succeed yesterday. Zero.

Still, the few times he could actually stand in the pocket and make a throw, he did not impress, and that's an understatement.

It was kind of stupid to trade Astro. I don't see what was accomplished by not letting Dobbs play one or two more games before Murray returned. Plus JD looks like the far better back up QB option vs. Tune.

That's what I was thinking. A decent backup is important. What would stop you from going into 2024 with Dobbs as your 2 and Tune as your 3? Maybe they think they have other options? Maybe they think Driskel is something?

It was an extremely weird moment in the Cards Underground podcast when they were like "Well thank goodness they were able to get something for him" after he was moved out of the starting lineup.

The steel man argument for the trade is that he was going to be offered too much money to be the backup for a team with aspirations or as a bridge starter. We traded him and got the opportunity for a compensatory-style pick that we wouldn't have gotten because we're going to get some good free agents this offseason.

It will be interesting to see whether Minnesota believes Dobbs is their answer at QB; I think they liked the guy they had.

To be fair as long as Murray has been out it's also entirely possible he's still getting his timing back?

I am starting to firmly believe that Gannon's checklist of items for Kyler had:
" at least week 10 of season"

And so, regardless of how Kyler thought he was progressing, JG would just look at that item and say he's doing great and where he needs to be at this time...(which is not week 10, so he isn't being activated yet.)

"Next question..."

Nothing really puts the lie to Monti's promise that "every decision we make will be in the service of helping the Arizona Cardinals win football games" more than starting Clayton Tune in week 9 of the 2023 football season.

That dude was absolute trash. It's impossible to believe he didn't look completely unprepared to play at the NFL level during practices over the past few weeks. Imagine playing worse than Tommy DeVito.
