Desperate for a reset, the Yankees move out of Thursday's off day into Friday night's game at Yankee Stadium with ace Gerrit Cole on the mound.

It's the start of a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins, who've lost 11 of their last 13 regular season games against the Yanks, who are 31-6 vs. Minnesota at Yankee Stadium (including 3-0 in postseason) since 2015.

But the chaos around the Yanks goes beyond their current seven-game losing streak.

Earlier Friday, the Yankees placed lefty starter Carlos Rodon on the 15-day injury list due to left elbow inflammation, and at Triple-A, right-hander Carlos Lagrange - expected to impact the Yanks' bullpen at some point in the second half - went on the IL with a shoulder issue.

Third baseman Ryan McMahon and center fielder Trent Grisham have been reinstated from the IL for Friday's game, and utility man Oswaldo Cabrera was optioned back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cole (2-3, 4.06) has posted a 6.12 ERA over his last five starts, following two scoreless outings upon his return from Tommy John surgery rehab.

Notably, as the Yanks oppose Twins right-hander Mike Paredes (0-1, 4.26), both Grisham and McMahon are in the lineup, and Jose Caballero is the starting shortstop over Anthony Volpe.

Here is the Yankees' lineup on Friday night in the Bronx:

  1. Trent Grisham, CF
  2. Ben Rice, DH
  3. Jasson Dominguez, RF
  4. Cody Bellinger, LF
  5. Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
  7. Ryan McMahon, 3B
  8. Jose Caballero, SS
  9. Austin Wells, C
