TORONTO - Trent Grisham's hamstring injury presented a path for Jasson Dominguez's return to the Yankees.

Late Saturday morning, the Yankees announced that Grisham was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right hamstring, necessitating the recall of Dominguez from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The switch-hitting Dominguez was on a minor league rehab assignment, after suffering a sprained left AC joint (shoulder) by slamming into the outfield wall at Yankee Stadium making a catch on May 7.

Grisham was injured during Friday night's 8-5 loss to the Blue Jays; he felt his hamstring tighten as he rounded first base on a two-run single and was forced to leave the game.

It's terrible timing for Grisham. The lefty-hitting center fielder had hit safely in 16 of his last 19 games since May 19, batting .370 during that span.

Dominguez had been playing well at Triple-A, homering in Friday night's game. And by all accounts, he'd begun to make a good transition to right field, a new position for him.

The absence of Aaron Judge (stress fracture, right rib) has created an opening in right field, which was being alternately filled by lefty-hitting Spencer Jones and right-handed hitting Jose Caballero for the most part.

Now, the young lefty-slugging Jones could get some run in right field, with Dominguez in left and Cody Bellinger likely switching from left to center field in the interim.
