The 2026 World Cup took the country by storm over the past six weeks, with Spain taking the title over the weekend by beating the reigning champions, Argentina. Celebrities of all statures were on hand to take in the final, including former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter.
Hunter was filmed entering New York-New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) donning a clean No. 10 Lionel Messi jersey. While Hunter might have gone home disappointed with Argentina's loss, he had his typical smile on his face before the game, vibing to the pregame sounds.
The Jacksonville Jaguars star is entering his second year in the NFL after being the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His rookie season was disappointing overall after it ended with knee surgery following Week 7. Playing both wide receiver and cornerback full time, Hunter seemed to be hitting his stride in the game the injury happened, as he racked up eight receptions for 101 yards and caught his first NFL touchdown.
In 2025, Hunter finished with 28 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown on offense, along with 15 combined tackles and three passes defended. After recovering from his injury, he bulked up this offseason, hoping to be better prepared for the physicality of the NFL and, specifically, to play both offense and defense.
The Jaguars have a loaded wide receiver room, with Hunter seemingly behind starters Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington and competing with Jakobi Meyers for third-receiver reps. On defense, Hunter is listed as a starting cornerback alongside Montaric Brown.
Jaguars' training camp begins next week, but Hunter enjoyed a final respite attending an electric World Cup final, cheering on Messi in what is, in all likelihood, his final World Cup game.
