Barring any switches or additional commitments, the UNC men's basketball program has its 2026 recruiting class in place.
North Carolina's incoming class is anchored by 4-star wings Maximo Adams and Kevin Thomas, the latter of whom previously de-committed from LSU. Also joining the Tar Heels is Malloy Smith, son of program legend Kenny Smith.
Looking ahead to the recruiting class, fans should be excited about UNC's latest target: 5-star point guard Nasir Anderson.
Originally from Savannah, Ga. and currently playing at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale (Fla.), Anderson told journalist Adam Zagoria he is also hearing from Indiana, Kentucky, Syracuse, Providence, Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia and Michigan State.
According to his 247Sports recruiting profile, Anderson is the class of 2027's eighth-ranked player overall, fourth-ranked recruit from Florida and third-ranked point guard.
Anderson is North Carolina's second point guard target in its next recruiting class, joining Beckham Black. UNC also has offers extended to wing Demarcus Henry, power forwards CJ Rosser and Marcus Spears Jr., plus center Paul Osaruyi.
Malone is known for developing talent, as evidenced by helping turn Nikola Jokic into a 3-time NBA MVP. Malone is on the right track by targeting Anderson, but his real test will be turning the Tar Heels around during their 2026-27 campaign.
