The Michael Malone era is officially here in Chapel Hill. In just a few shorts months, UNC basketball fans will watch their new head coach try and restore a historic program to its early 2000's glory.
Malone's first roster features a few key returners in Jarin Stevenson and Isaiah Denis, transfer portal additions like Terrence Brown and Matt Able, plus incoming high school recruits like Kevin Thomas and Maximo Adams.
There could also be a few high-end talents coming to Chapel Hill in the future. Looking ahead at North Carolina's 2027-28 roster, Tar Heel targets Beckham Black and Nasir Anderson lead SportsCenter Next's class of 2027, Top 10 point guard list.
Black, a 6'3" point guard who plays his high school basketball at Southeastern Prep in Orlando (Fla.), tops the list with a 95 grade. According to his 247Sports recruiting profile, Black is the class of 2027's second-ranked overall recruit, plus the top-ranked prospect from Florida.
Anderson, a 6'4" point guard who stars at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, is second on the SC Next list with a 94 grade. According to his 247Sports recruiting profile, Anderson is the class of 2027's sixth-ranked prospect, plus the second-ranked point guard and Florida's third overall player.
UNC also has class of 2027 offers extended to centers Paul Osaruyi and Darius Wabbington, power forwards Marcus Spears Jr. and CJ Rosser, small forward Demarcus Henry and combo guard Adan Diggs.
Despite his lack of postseason success, Hubert Davis recruited well. Malone, off to a great start ahead of Year One, knows plenty about talent development from his time with NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokić.
