Tom Brady spent more than two decades turning the New England Patriots into one of the NFL’s most powerful brands. His latest move shows he is applying that same ambition to his growing business empire. Brady announced Thursday that CardVault by Tom Brady has added a star-studded collection of strategic investors as the sports collectibles retailer prepares for another significant expansion.

The group includes entertainment icon Jay-Z, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge, Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid and Boston Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck. Fenway Sports Group principal owner John Henry also joined the investment group, giving Brady’s latest venture another strong connection to the Boston sports scene.

Other prominent investors include RedBird Capital Partners founder Gerry Cardinale, Silver Lake co-CEOs Egon Durban and Greg Mondre, and Raising Cane’s founder Todd Graves.

Tom Brady Has Big Plans For CardVault

Brady acquired a 50% stake in CardVault in February 2025, leading to the company being renamed CardVault by Tom Brady. The former Patriots quarterback did not attach his name to a stagnant business. CardVault operated only three stores when Brady joined the company. It has since expanded to 17 locations across the country, establishing a presence in major sports markets that include Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco.

The company’s long-term goal is to surpass 100 stores. Its new investment group should provide valuable resources and expertise as CardVault attempts to reach that mark. The funding will support additional physical locations along with improvements to the company’s technology, automated retail options, supply-chain operations and digital commerce platform.

Brady’s personal connection to sports cards also makes the venture a natural addition to his post-football career. The seven-time Super Bowl champion collected cards as a child and has frequently discussed his passion for sports memorabilia. CardVault allows him to turn that longtime interest into a business built around the relationship between athletes, fans and collectors.

Bringing Judge and McDavid into the investment group only strengthens that connection. Both athletes are among the most recognizable stars in their respective sports, while Grousbeck and Henry provide extensive experience running prominent professional franchises.

Brady Continues Building Post-Patriots Career

Brady has remained closely connected to football since announcing his retirement in February 2023. He entered the broadcast booth as Fox Sports’ lead NFL analyst and also became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Away from the league, Brady has assembled a diverse business portfolio that includes interests in sports, apparel, wellness and entertainment.

CardVault now appears positioned to become one of his most visible ventures. The collectibles industry has grown beyond traditional hobby shops, with high-value cards increasingly treated as alternative investments. CardVault is attempting to capitalize on that interest by placing stores in major stadiums, shopping destinations and sports markets while also expanding its online reach.

Brady’s involvement gives the company immediate credibility and name recognition. The addition of several influential investors suggests CardVault’s expansion is only getting started.

His playing days may be over, but Brady remains focused on building something that can win on a national scale. This time, he has assembled a different kind of superteam.
