The Boys are determined to trade up. They have talked with every team from the Jets to the Chiefs. They feel there are very few impact players and they are not confident they could get a useful player at 20. I think the Cards could definitely get 12 & 20. Teams like the Saints would have to chip in another pick.

Do you think the love talk is a smokescreen? Would they take him over Bailey if stuck at 3? Hope not

That would be best for the Cardinals if they could trade with the Cowboys. We could get a RT at #12 or even #20. For some reason I don't like Simpson. QBs are usually over hyped and over drafted.

Cowboys trade could work out well for the Cards. They could get their RT and if they really like Simpson this would be better than picking him at #3.

I don't understand the appeal of trading back for 12 and 20 in this draft class. 12 is just outside of the optimal top range and 20 is a no man's land IMO.

You’d think this draft was one 2nd round pick, a bunch of 3rd round picks, then everyone else is a 6th-7th or a UDFA from all these rumors and speculation from the podcast bros.

The NCAA seems to have a real problem in developing pro-level talent. The NFL might need a real minor league if this keeps up. The quality of the NFL has had a steep decline in the last 10 years. There are no Peytons, no Bradys, no Ray Lewis, No Ed Reed, we’re just not seeing the type of talent we used to.

A good example is Gruden’s interview with Jaxson Dart last year. It was something like this:

Gruden: “show me your cadence.”
Dart: “I just clap.”
Gruden: “You just clap? How do you do a hard count then?”
Dart: “I clap twice.”

That’s a problem.

Good thing we don’t need any impact players.

Only an idiot like Monti would pigeonhole himself into taking certain positions and trading away superior players to do it. Talent almost always wins out. Take the best player!! If it's at a position of need, that's a bonus.
I would be fine with Bailey or Reese at 3 ….but not love….not without a quality o line or quarterback…that’s just not good business to me…but If it happens I will get over it…after my tv gets smashed

Who is this a problem for? The p5 isn’t in the business of creating pro prospects.
But, ironically, that's why they are the P5 to start with.

What would recruiting look like if the NFL refused to draft from those schools? Or if the league set up a post HS semi pro league and only drafted from there?

I agree on the Reese Bailey but I will never understand that thinking about Love. If he’s great you draft him don’t over think it. You can get a RT

What are you on about? The power 5 is optimized for TV revenue and nothing else.

Honestly, in your two hypotheticals nothing would change for these football schools. The quality of the play would be a little worse but as we see from college basketball every year, the popularity of the sport is only casually related to the quality of the product.

95% of recruiting would remain unchanged; most top recruits will make more from their NIL deals than they’ll make as pros.

Do you think Arch Manning chose Texas because of the polished QB prospects they turn out year after year? Get real.
