I think Suggs believed his own hype all summer and sat on his ass and got fat without working out.
I don't think he's in San Diego working out, I think he's in Wisconsin eating deep-fried, cheese covered lardsicles.
What's his motivation going to be like AFTER he signs a fat contract?

:)

Had he not put on some weight, you'd all be whining he's too small.

So he put on some weight and now he's "too slow".

He had to pick a poison.

a few months ago i was concerned with his lack of size for an every down de, but i also recognized his abilities (i have watched quite a few asu games during his college career) and would have been stoked to have him. then the first workout showed he was not only small, but weak (come on, he did 6 less reps than the AVERAGE de) and apparently slower than we all thought. then his second workout confirmed that slowness. then there's the entire non-cooperation with the cops thing. it's just a lot of negatives to completely ignore. as i've said before, would you be jumping up and down about any other player at any other position if his description was "small, weak, and slow for his position?" he scares me.

all that said, like those before me have said, i won't be disappointed if we take him. i'll be bummed if we pass the opp for leftwich (see every post prior to this one for the multitude of reasons), but i'll be happy to hope suggs' tenacity and moves pay off with a passrush.

gotta give ya kudos though for attempting to put together a "call-out" list, only problem with it is that you're not gonna get so much satisfaction with your told-you-so's if suggs pans out 'cuz it's not like you're going out on a limb, nor is anyone here steadfastly against drafting him.

Amen, brotha. Well said.

Hey, I want to remember who said what, so that I can call out those who choose to act like the wanted him badly.

I think at worst he will be a good player.....and Leftwich will be outstanding. That would suck bad....

I am

A Suggs doubter. I believe he will be a good but not great player.

If he plays for us...please prove me wrong!

I still don't think that saying he will be a "nice" player that gets 8-10 sacks a year is being that much of a doubter.

Thomas Jones had great numbers coming out of college against good opponents. Was that an accident?

I'm for Lefty. I see more for the future in him.

But with respect to everyone that wants Suggs, I won't bitch and moan about him if we get him. Well, too much at least.

The time for calling your shots is before the draft, not after. We can analyze how someone performs afterward, but saying shoulda woulda coulda is worthless.

That being said, there's only three days left, so...

Let's get it on!!!
Woo Hoooo!!!

You what list to put me on. For the record my first round preference list would be as follows:

Newman
Leftwich
Robertson
Williams
Trufant
Suggs

One clarification on Suggs from my vantage point. I have never argued what he did in college and I do believe he will do OK in the NFL but he is simply not worthy of a #6 pick in my book. Expectations from many on this board are so high that he is being set up for failure. I think he will bust...not Ryan Leaf bust...but bust as in he just won't come anywhere near satisfying the expectations placed on him by fans here and the draft experts.

Plus it makes me sick when I hear him compared to DT and LT among others...especially DT since he was one of my favorite football players.

I'll go on record as being opposed to drafting Suggs at the 6 spot.

Workout numbers may not mean everything, but they must mean something. Otherwise, they wouldn't go to the trouble of having them (twice).
