Thurston track and field athlete Addison Nelson is the winner of the Active Chiropractic high school girls Athlete of the Week, as voted by Register-Guard readers.

A senior, Nelson won the Class 5A triple jump title with a mark of 38 feet, 4 3/4 inches May 29 at the state championships.

Nelson received 88.35% of the reader poll votes. Pleasant Hill track and field athlete Ryan Thomas was second (5.89%).

Makya Alsup, Cottage Grove track and field​


Cottage Grove senior Makya Alsup took second in the javelin with a throw of 122 feet, 1 inch May 29 at the OSAA Class 4A state championships.

Samara Baker, Triangle Lake track and field​


Triangle Lake senior Samara Baker placed second in the 100 hurdles in 15.84 May 29 at the OSAA Class 1A state championships. Baker also took fifth in the 300 hurdles (48.37).

Ella Cardwell, Cottage Grove track and field​


Cottage Grove senior Ella Cardwell placed second in the 3,000 with a personal-best time of 10:22.19 May 29 at the OSAA Class 4A state championships.

Anya Griffith, Central Linn track and field​


Central Linn sophomore Anya Griffith took second place in the 1,500 in a personal-best 4:45.35 at the OSAA Class 2A state championships.

Later in the meet, Griffin placed fourth in the 400 (59.88).

Eva Johnson Hess, South Eugene track and field​


South Eugene freshman Eva Johnson Hess took second place in the 3,000 with a personal-best time of 9:47.08 May 29 at the OSAA Class 6A state championships.

Johnson Hess' time is the third-fastest in the state this season, regardless of classification.

Sophia Lydon, Marist Catholic softball​


Marist Catholic junior Sophia Lydon went 2 for 3 and drove in the go-ahead run May 26 to lift the Spartans to a 1-0 win over Stayton in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Miley Richardson, Monroe track and field​


Monroe sophomore Miley Richardson won the Class 2A long jump title with a personal-best mark of 16-9 1/4 May 29 at the state championships.

Richardson also placed fifth in the 400 (1:00.68).

Ellie Cho and Ellie Park, South Eugene tennis​


South Eugene senior Ellie Cho and junior Ellie Park won the Class 6A state doubles title May 23 at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton.

Park and Cho defeated Sheldon's Hayden Kearney and Alyssa Piquette, 6-2, 6-3 in the title match.

Ryan Thomas, Pleasant Hill track and field​


Pleasant Hill senior Ryan Thomas won the Class 3A 100 in a personal-best 12.15 seconds May 29 at the OSAA state championships.

Thomas' time is the fastest ever by a 3A girls in the state of Oregon.

Lillian Wobbe, Marist Catholic softball​


Marist Catholic junior Lillian Wobbe threw a complete-game shutout, struck out 11, walked just two and scattered five hits May 26 in a 1-0 win over Stayton in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
