Pleasant Hill track and field athlete Cody Jones is the winner of the Active Chiropractic high school boys Athlete of the Week, as voted by Register-Guard readers.

A senior, Jones threw a personal-best javelin mark of 187-3 May 22 to win the Class 3A Special District 1 title.

Jones' throw eclipsed his previous personal best by nearly 14 feet. It is the ninth-best mark in the state this season and the top mark in Class 3A.

Jones received 40.29% of the reader poll votes, North Eugene track and field athlete Alder Davis was second (22.9%).

Alder Davis, North Eugene track and field​


North Eugene senior Alder Davis ran a personal-best 3,000 time of 8 minutes, 34.74 seconds to claim fifth place May 21 at the Midwest League Championships.

Davis' time is the ninth-fastest in the state this season among Class 5A boys.

Jacob Dugas, Cottage Grove track and field​


Cottage Grove sophomore Jacob Dugas uncorked a triple jump personal best of 43 feet, 9 3/4 inches May 22 to win the Sky-Em League title.

Dugas' mark is the sixth-best in the state this season among Class 4A boys.

Hawk Harward, Willamette golf​


Willamette freshman Hawk Harward shot 156 (+12) and tied for 23rd place May 19 at the Class 6A state championships at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.

Harward was the top freshman finisher in Oregon's largest classification.

Brock Johnson, Thurston baseball​


Thurston senior shortstop Brock Johnson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a triple May 21 to help the Colts to a 17-4 win over Ashland.

Jace Litten, Churchill baseball​


Churchill senior Jace Litten went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double May 22 in a 10-3 win over Eagle Point.

On the mound, Litten threw a complete game, struck out seven and allowed just three earned runs.

Landyn Lounsbury, Thurston golf​


Thurston sophomore Landyn Lounsbury shot 150 (+6) to take seventh place at the Class 5A state championships May 19 at Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River.

Lounsbury was the top local 5A finisher and helped Thurston to a fourth-place team finish.

Jaxen Mazur, Marist Catholic golf​


Marist Catholic senior Jaxen Mazur shot 157 (+13) to take fifth place at the Class 4A state championships May 19 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.

Mazur helped the Spartans to the team state title.

Tripp Murphy, Marist Catholic golf​


Marist Catholic sophomore Tripp Murphy shot 154 (+10) over two rounds to take third place at the Class 4A state championships May 19 at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.

Murphy helped the Spartans to the team state title.

Charlie Posen, Sheldon golf​


Sheldon senior Charlie Posen shot 156 (+12) to tie for 23rd place at the Class 6A state championships May 19 at Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell.

Posen's overall score was tied for the best among local 6A golfers.

Max Smith, Sheldon track and field​


Sheldon junior Max Smith produced a personal-best pole vault mark of 13-10 1/2 May 20 at the Southwest Conference Championships.

Smith's mark is the seventh-best in the state this season among Class 6A boys.

Chad Turner, Sheldon baseball​


Sheldon junior Chad Turner went 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs May 16 in a 13-1 win at South Eugene.

In the opening game of a doubleheader earlier that day, Turner went 2 for 5 with a double and one RBI.

Hunter Vaughn, Willamette track and field​


Willamette senior Hunter Vaughn clocked a personal-best of 10.54 in the 100 May 20 at the Southwest Conference Championships.

Vaughn's time is the sixth-fastest in the state this season, regardless of classification.

Lincoln Wiedenmann, Thurston golf​


Thurston senior Lincoln Wiedenmann shot 151 (+7) to take eighth place at the Class 5A state championships May 19 at Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River.

Wiedenmann helped Thurston to a fourth-place team finish.
