It’s hard not to have a little lingering disappointment on how the Diamond Heels’ season ended after their Game Three loss to Oklahoma in the College World Series. Still, it was one of the best seasons in UNC baseball history and worth celebrating. More recognition of Carolina’s achievements arrived in the form of three UNC players being named as All-Americans by D1 Baseball.

Rookie Caden Glauber highlights the Tar Heel All-Americans selections. D1 Baseball tabbed him as their Rookie of the Year for his amazing debut season. Glauber posted a 12-0 record, which was tied for the best in the country and the second most wins a Tar Heel pitcher has ever recorded without suffering a loss. His ERA of 2.05 was the fourth-best in the nation and he struck out 114 batters. UNC had a perfect record in games Glauber pitched in until their final matchup against the Sooners.

Glauber also won named as a first team All-American by D1 Baseball. Glauber should be a big part of UNC’s rotation next year. Despite getting a lot of attention from other schools, Glauber’s father said he will be returning to UNC for his sophomore season.

Owen Hull also made D1 Baseball’s All-American First Team. Hull was arguably the Heels best offensive player, batting .393 an accruing 103 hits and 87 RBIs. He finished second in the NCAA in both categories.

UNC pitching stalwart Jason DeCaro is a Second Team All-American. Decaro anchored the UNC starting pitcher rotation and ended up with an 11-3 record and a 2.87 ERA. DeCaro put up one of the best outings of his career during the UNC’s playoff run, going all nine innings against USC in an elimination game and holding the Trojans to just two hits while striking out eight. DeCaro will likely be drafted and end his UNC career.
