Scouting Report
Saunders recorded 64 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and five fumble recoveries last season. He has the prototypical frame for a Big Ten edge rusher, though he’ll need to add weight without sacrificing movement skills. Saunders is a dynamic pass rusher with a high motor, the length to win at the point of attack, and the closing speed to finish plays in the backfield. He fits best as a stand-up edge rusher or weak-side defensive end who can attack off the edge and be used on stunts. Saunders will need to continue to develop his pass rush technique so he is less reliant on his speed and length — adding more consistent hand usage, counters, and inside moves —while improving his pad level and block deconstruction in the run game.
