There's one crazy part of the Oilers' Darnell Nurse trade to the Sharks originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Edmonton Oilers have been expected to trade Darnell Nurse for a while now.
He requested a deal, and it was a matter of lining up the right team on the other side. That team appears to be the San Jose Sharks.
None of that is all that surprising, but one piece is.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers won't be retaining any of Nurse's salary in the trade:
This is how things appear to be unfolding:
Nurse to SJ
Shakir Mukhamadullin will be part the return
There will be no retention by the Oilers

Part of the reason Nurse felt like a trade candidate to begin with is his salary.
He still has four years left on his contract, at $9.25 million per year.
The 31-year old Nurse is still a solid defenseman -- but he's not $9.25 million per year good.
The Sharks, though, have a young roster and plenty of cap space. That gives them the flexibility to do this.
And since they're paying Nurse's whole contract, they won't have to give up as much to trade for him.
It's a win-win kind of deal, it appears, and a huge boost to Edmonton's cap situation.
