I will have to check that out. Thanks for the info. For those of you with Paramount + there is a really good Clint Dempsey documentary on there right now. It’s called “You don’t know where I’m from, dawg!”
that always makes me laugh and it's pretty cool that he and the guy that he was talking to work together now. I really like Clint Dempsey. I think he like the other US greats isn't shy to speak his mind, I just find him to be more credible for whatever reason. For those of you with Paramount + there is a really good Clint Dempsey documentary on there right now. I'm trying to come on board with Landon's latest wave of involvement in US Soccer press, but I'm still finding it difficult to take him seriously at times. I understand that he has opinions and isn't afraid to speak his mind, but some of his comments sound hollow at times. This is not one of those times. I think he has a good point and sincerely seems to want to help, but I'm not sure he has all the answers.
These were the qualities I saw in Tessmann and Luna as well as Berhalter. You see it at times in Aaronson and Arfsten. Tessmann is a movable chess piece Pochettino doesn't have on the squad right now.I have never been a fan of Roldan, he is the biggest head scratcher for me. Not really a fan of Zendejas either but he has been productive in Mexico I guess, so maybe he is just in good form right now.
My confidence and excitement for this team is not very high. I don’t see the grit and toughness here like we saw with past teams but the tournament at home could wake them up, guess only time will tell.
For years, the playing groups we have had have all acted and played with privilege. As if they deserved everything when they've earned nothing. The gutless attitude from leadership on down has soured me to the team. I'll watch in the WC and root for them. Hopefully they advance, but I have my doubts. If they advance, it will be at least a 2-goal thumping to be dumped out.I have never been a fan of Roldan, he is the biggest head scratcher for me. Considering his zero club goals in 2026, I'm not betting on it. Our future looked so bright in the early 2000's - what we lacked in talent, we made up for in spirit and effort. It seemed inevitable the talent would improve. Instead we have a bunch of lazy and entitled players, who completely lack the effort and grit of previous USMNT iterations.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
SO there is some talk going around that Pochettino used Luna as an example of the type of player he wanted the squad to become by having him on the call ups early to set an example with the realization that Luna was never going to be picked for the WC squad. Thoughts?
That's pretty much what the talk is about. Use Luna as an example to set the mood but never really intending to put him on the squad.Like an example for his toughness and hard play but he just didn't think he was talented enough? I don't get it. Roldan just isn't that good, Luna may not be any better(arguably) but he is younger.
I think it’s been that way for a very long time. Systemic entitlement. And that’s why the program eventually stalled in 2018. Even the older teams had a lot of problems although people seem to look back to them with some type of reverence. The 94 team had a lot of trailblazers on it. The 98 team was in shambles, guys cheating and infighting. The 02 team is probably the outlier. We may never see another USA team defeat two top 10 teams in the world in one tournament and outplay another like they did against Germany. Landon Donovan had his fair share of maturity issues. And he should have had a better career than what he did especially as a club player (not MLS). But Landon was 1 of 1 so he often gets a pass. For years, the playing groups we have had have all acted and played with privilege. As if they deserved everything when they've earned nothing. I thought the effort was there in the last WC group matches but also at times looked like something was off. like guys either being gassed or not doing their jobs. Then they had the whole thing with berhalter and Reyna. They appeared to be showing growth without Berhalter after the worlxConsidering his zero club goals in 2026, I'm not betting on it. Cup, only to then bring Berhalter back on the very night that they arguably played their best game ever against Mexico. I do think they have had some maturity issues as well. McKinnie not being in top form, dest and Weah taking dumb red cards. Then aside from that a whole lot of injuries which the latter seems to always plague pulisic. He will hit his stride and have these incredible highs with his club team, and then fall out of form for long stretches when he gets injured.
