I dont think we have a visit set up with Carr yet. Rumor from Jurecki is that the Cards may be waiting to see what the Browns do with Derrick Anderson and the bonus he is due on the 19th. He may be the guy we covet, with Carr and possibly Batch as the backup plan if they are still available. Again just a rumor.

As far as Foote goes, we got some more information. Some may wonder why he is visiting the Redskins who run a 4-3 defense and still have Fletcher, and they wont move Fletcher to the outside because they already have to good OLB's. Rumor out of Washington is that although they haven't said it yet they want to or at least explore a move to a 3-4 Defense. Meaning they need another ILB. Plus Foote is familiar with the LB coach who was the D Quality Control Coach with Pitt for 15 years. Redskins might be a bigger player for Foote's services then we realize.

According to Jurecki the LB we were trying to trade for and a trade that almost happened Friday morning was a LB from the Browns. Neither side will say much past that because they may not want the LB to know they tried to trade him.

This weeks Schedule looks like -

Tomorrow (3/9) - DE - Nick Eason and OL Wade Smith
Wednesday (3/10) - OL - Rex Hadnot
Thursday (3/11) - LB Larry Foote, LB Joey Porter

Will update the schedule as it happens, just nice to have it all in one place IMO.

Oh man if it was D'Qwell Jackson I would have been so happy I would have cried lol. Plus adding Porter? This could have been a defense that scared people...

Joe -

If both Foote and Porter are coming on the same day - they are holding a joint press conference. Count on it. Wanna bet some vbookie bucks on it?

I doubt it was, but if it were Kamerion Wimbley that would have been awesome.

I have no doubt bringing in two old teammates on the same day is strategic. Play each others emotions off each other along with Haggans to get the crew back together could only help in negotiations. That's if either one actually gets here with both having a visit with another team before they come here.

Dont think it would have been Jackson or Wimbley. Those two probably untouchable. Probably someone more in the Matt Roth range.

I knew Foote was visiting the Redskins today but thought the report of Porter visiting Buffalo was a rumor. If he is visiting Buffalo I believe we are safe.

No news tomorrow is good for us. Makes this scenario more likely to work.

I wouldn't say Jackson is completely untouchable. He only received a second round tender from the Browns, and shortly after they acquired Scott Fujita. More than one writer in Cleveland thinks that the two things combined means an exit for Jackson.

Now, I have no idea if matching their offer sheet could be described as a trade, but I would certainly be willing to give up a second round pick for him.

Plus Mike Holmgren is bringing in Brandon Spikes for a "private workout". Jackson could very well be on his way out of town...

Why? a second round designation is simply the starting point of a negotiation. They've signed Fujita, they're bringing in Spikes for a private workout, and, to my thinking, it means he can be had for less.

Exactly! Would be AMAZING if we could get him for one of our extra 3rds or even a 4th. (I'd rather trade the 4th but) If we trade the 3rd and sign Jackson, esentially we traded Q, a 5th, and a 7th next year for Kerry Rhodes and D'Qwell Jackson. Anquan could be taking this team to the next level without actually playing here lol. I think Jackson could be better than Karlos and I think Kerry Rhodes could end up being WAY better than Rolle.

I'd love it... but, if Larry Foote signs this week it is off, to my mind, and we are looking at the draft.

What is particularly good regarding the Cardinals moves and rumored moves is that they are not limiting themselves by going after a specific player, and only that specific player for any particular need. For example: Larry Foote (ILB) is coming for a visit this week, but as rumored the Cardinals also attempted, and may still be attempting a deal with Cleveland for a LB. Either or even both may eventually work out. Same at OLB; signed Baggs, may sign Porter also.

It's a classic don't put all your eggs in one basket approach. I like it!!! There is more activity being generated at Warner and Hardy this offseason than we have seen in, well, EVER!

I don't know. Jureki said something yesterday that's been getting me thinking. He said the Cards were really down on Hayes last year. Foote is almost the same exact player. Foote may be Hayes replacement this year and we could still be looking for another guy.

He is not the "thumper" Hayes is at his best. I'm inclined to believe that Hayes' heir apparent will be drafted in the first three rounds.

Are you sure Whitehurst is today? Or could it be tomorrow?

The way I see it, every time we fill a roster-void, it means one less distraction and a stronger bargain position going forward.

Rod and Wiz will have fewer priorities to have to focus on, and when we're bargaining (either with players or other teams) we're less desperate.
