There is no bigger regular season game for the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team than their annual matchup with the Louisville Cardinals. The in-state rivalry goes back decades and is one college basketball's biggest battles every season, with plenty of history, and plenty of hatred.

Last season, the game was played early in the season, and Louisville dominated, winning 96-88 early in November. It was their first win against the Wildcats since 2020 and only their third since 2012. Overall, it's a series Kentucky has ruled, and they hold a 40-18 record all-time.

Next year's matchup will take place in Rupp Arena, and will see the Cats looking for revenge. It will have plenty of storylines, and now it has a date. They two teams will meet in Lexington on Dec. 12 according to Ben Roberts of the Herald-Leader.

The move back to December is a welcome one for fans. Games in November often feature teams that are still trying to find their footing, and can be sloppy. Getting both teams at full strength makes for a more fun game.

The time and viewing information aren't available yet, but will be updated when they are.
