Later in the game, BG had a tooth knocked out. Both times she came back and dominated. Both times it was elbows and not a flagrant foul was called. That doesn't discourage elbows.

I guess the refs figured they had to do something to keep the TV audience watching.

I hope the Mercury buries Chicago in Game 3. Show no mercy on the road!

Brittany has outpatient retinal procedure

Here is what ESPN reported about BG's condition after being elbowed in the eye and mouth.

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner underwent an outpatient procedure to correct a retinal issue and will be a game-time decision for Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, the team announced Thursday.

Griner took two blows to the face in Game 2 against the Chicago Sky and suffered a scratched eyelid, chipped tooth and bloodied lip.

I hadn't developed a team hatred in the WNBA since following the Mercury, back to the days of Grandmama and Maria Stepanova.

But now I want to see the Mercury put a real hurt on Chicago and their elbows. That is chicken$hit!

Congratulations to our Mercury

And third title it is. What a team effort! Brittany Griner injured. Diana Taurasi cold. But DT sure came through in the 4th when it mattered most. And record breaking shooting by Candice Dupree.

The Mercury were so named because Mercury is closest to the Sun. Now the Suns need to get closer to the Mercury's record of three league championships.

Thanks to all the ladies for giving us guys in the Valley something special to celebrate.

Man did DT put the team on her back in that 4th quarter. And to think that just a couple weeks ago I thought Maya Moore was the best player in the league, but this playoff performance proved yet again that honor has to go to Diana.

Rebecca Lobo, doing the color commentating on ESPN, through the playoffs called Taurasi the best woman basketball player in the world.

DT is like Michael Jordan and John Stockton rolled into one. She knows when to bring out the best in her teammates and when she has to take over offensively, as she did again tonight especially with Brittney out injured.

If Griner had played gm3 it would have been a rout. The real championship series was Merc vs Lynx. There couldn't have been a bigger sacrificial lamb than Chicago.

Funny how the two most successful franchises in town (Rattlers & Mercury) get the least support and media attention.

The Rattlers are the benchmark AFL franchise and the Mecury are quickly becoming the WNBA version.

NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA. The 4 majors. Try telling a Steelers fan yeah, you have 6 SuperBowl Championships but the Mercury have won 3 WNBA Championships and the Rattlers have won 5 ArenaBowl Championships.

Are you really saying that no one should be rooting for the Rattlers or Mercury? Our home teams that have excelled within their leagues?

And what the hell does Pittsburgh have to do with Phoenix? You have been an "AZ Native" for 62 years. Have you considered being loyal to all of our teams?

You, of course, can root for whomever you wish. You shouldn't be lecturing the rest of us for doing the same. Especially when we support our home teams.
